"Even before Robert Plant took the stage at the WVU Coliseum on Sunday, before
his band played one note, lighter flames dotted the darkened forum in tribute
to him," wrote Lee Chottiner of "The Dominion Post" in his review
of the 1990 concert. "He could have given the worst performance of his
career and the tribute would have still been appropriate for the former
lead singer of Led Zeppelin, and one of the men who changed the face of
rock 'n' roll."
"Fortunately for the crowd of 4,914 Plant gave what could have been one of his best performances," Chottiner went on to say. Plant and his band performed songs from their newest album at the time of the show, "Manic Nirvana," but the fans also enjoyed some favorite Led Zeppelin tunes. The encore featured "Ship of Fools" from the 1988 album "Now and Zen." |
