Matchbox Twenty's 2003 concert at the WVU Coliseum was part of Fall Family Weekend. The band opened the show with "Feel" from what was, at that time, their current album "More Than You Think You Are." They played a 17-song set for an extremely lively crowd. The show ended with two encores–the first a cover of "Simple Minds" from "The Breakfast Club" soundtrack. The second encore came after the fans cheered the band back on stage and lasted for five more songs, including Matchbox Twenty favorites "Push" and "So Sad, So Lonely." During the second encore, lead singer Rob Thomas introduced multi-instrumentalist Matt Beck, who hails from W.Va., as the "newest member of our traveling set." The concert ended with "Long Day." |
