When Kenny Rogers made his first appearance at the Coliseum in 1982, he was
at the height of his stardom, having just earned four American Music Awards
the year before, including his second straight favorite country album prize
for "The Gambler." His thirteenth studio album, "Love Will Turn You Around,"
had just been released and he had just played the starring role in the
film "Six Pack."
Rogers' show featured an octagon-shaped stage for an in-the-round concert that was attended by 12,500 fans. His knack for making a large arena show seem like an intimate gathering was on full display. |
