J. Cole's 2012 concert at the WVU Coliseum was part of his first U.S. tour
following the phenomenal success of his debut album. Cole was the headlining
act on Reverb's Campus Consciousness Spring 2012 Tour.
Just more than 3,000 fans enjoyed sets by Big K.R.I.T., Tyga and Cole. Big K.R.I.T.'s street album “Wuz Here” had earned him the respect of rap fans and his debut studio album, “Live from the Underground,” would be released later in the year. His opening set pumped up the crowd and set the tone for the night. |

Young Money artist Tyga was next to take the stage where the crowd enthusiastically joined in his single “Rack City,” which was No. 6 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at the time of the concert. When J. Cole made his appearance, anxious fans flooded the stage. WVU Student Jerred Bellinger told The Daily Athenaeum, "I thought J. Cole killed his performance. Everyone in the crowd was rocking." Cole wore a West Virginia University hoodie for his encore. Fans with tickets for the show also had a chance to tour the Campus Consciousness Eco Village which featured booths from the tours many sponsors. Inside the Coliseum, the Brita FilterForGood Music Project set up several water stations to refill reusable water bottles handed out to concert-goers. |
