About the Event

The Bria Skonberg Quintet is a powerhouse combination of emerging talent in the New York jazz scene. Leader Bria Skonberg is a triple threat musician—an award-winning trumpeter, vocalist and composer. The Wall Street Journal proclaims that she is “poised to be one of most versatile and imposing musicians of her generation.” Skonberg demonstrates a dedication to jazz tradition but her wide range of influences (swing, reggae, soft rock, pop, classical and gospel) are all impacting her personal style that is rooted in hot jazz, world percussion, soul and modern effects. She was recently received a New York Bistro Award for “Outstanding Jazz Artist” and swept the 2014 Hot House Jazz Magazine Awards in all categories where she was nominated: Best Jazz Artist, Best Trumpet, Best Female Vocalist and Best Group for the Bria Skonberg Quintet. The quintet includes Evan Arntzen (clarinet/saxophone), Sean Cronin (bass), Dalton Ridenhour (piano) and Darrian Douglas (drums).
