About the Event

Witness two legendary songwriting giants on one stage when Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt bring their acoustic talents to Morgantown. Compared to a “back-porch jam,” the duo’s set has captivated audiences with an effortless blend of blues, country, folk and rock. Hailed as one of the most distinctive and original singer-songwriters to emerge from the alt-country world, Lyle Lovett easily conveys the three “C’s” of showmanship: class, charisma and consistency. With 13 studio albums and four Grammy Awards to his credit, Lovett combines a talent for incisive, witty lyrical detail with an eclectic array of music, ranging from country and folk to big band, swing and traditional pop. Similarly, John Hiatt is one of the most prolific songwriters in the music world. Hiatt’s songs have been covered by a hugely diverse group of musicians throughout the years, including Three Dog Night’s “Sure As I’m Sitting Here” and Rosanne Cash’s “The Way We Mend A Broken Heart.” Hiatt is 2008’s AMA Lifetime Achievement Award winner for Songwriting and has just released another critically-acclaimed album called Same Old Man.
