Billed as a Caribbean epic of family, love and violence, Ghost of Cite Soleil takes us inside the lives of the notorious gang leaders who dominate the Haitian slum of Cite Soleil. The foot soldiers of the gang leaders are known as chimeres (or “ghosts”) and it was those ghosts that former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide is said to have employed to silence his opponents. Shot in the months leading up to the overthrow of Aristide in 2004, this captures the smoldering tensions between two gang leaders and their love for the same woman. In Haitian and French, with English subtitles.
