About the Event
For more than 40 years, Jackson Browne has written and performed some of the most moving songs in popular music. He has defined a genre of songwriting charged with honesty, emotion and personal politics. Since his debut album in 1972, Browne has released 13 studio albums, three collections and countless classic hits, including "Doctor My Eyes," "Rock Me on the Water," "Jamaica Say You Will" and "Somebody's Baby" from the Fast Times at Ridgemont High soundtrack. Not only did his introspective, literate lyrics strike a nerve, but his laid-back folk-rock set the template for much of the music that came out of California during the '70s. Browne's deeply reflective lyrics and natural sense of melody earned him induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Beyond his music, he is known for his advocacy on behalf of the environment, human rights and arts education. Browne is the recipient of the John Steinbeck Award, given to artists whose works exemplify the environmental and social values that were essential to the California-born author. California's quintessential singer/songwriter is sure to deliver a memorable night of music with this solo acoustic performance.
